Rank Programs for Certified Teachers. Rank I programs are planned graduate level programs designed for Kentucky teachers seeking rank change for salary purposes. Rank I programs are not degree programs. They are recognized only in the state of Kentucky. By state regulation, Rank I status is sixty (60) semester hours.

To be eligible for admission applicants must have:. A master’s degree from regionally accredited institution of higher education, with a total cumulative graduate grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A Kentucky Rank II teaching certificate or out-of-state equivalent. Submit official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate coursework sent directly from all institutions of higher education previously attended.

Submit a copy of Kentucky teaching certificate or out-of-state equivalent at Rank II. Submit three recommendation forms with attached letters of recommendation. Letters may be typed directly into the recommendation form. If separate letters of recommendation are attached, they must be written on official letterhead and have the signature of the individual providing the recommendation. Submit a typewritten Statement of Professional Goals, approximately 300-400 words in length. The Statement of Professional Goals should state the applicant’s reasons for pursuing the Rank I program and the specialization and/or endorsement desired. It should also state the applicant’s goals for professional growth and explain specifically how the chosen degree program/endorsement area will make it possible for the applicant to achieve these goals and improve her/his knowledge and skills as a teacher.

The Statement of Professional Goals will be evaluated for completeness, quality of written expression, and clarity of professional goals. ♦ Indicates prerequisite. Exit Criteria. Completion of 30 credit hours (at least 15 hours 600 or above) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Completion of area of specialization with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Completion of all required coursework used for the certificate with a C or higher.
Signed Codes of Ethics for Kentucky School Personnel and College of Education and Human Services. Signed copy of Rank I curriculum contract and appropriate area of specialization curriculum contract. Successful satisfactory Rank 1 final reflection demonstrating the Kentucky Teacher Standards.
Mission The Annsley Frazier Thornton School of Education prepares caring, effective educators in the Catholic liberal arts tradition of Bellarmine University to teach and lead in diverse settings. The Rank I Non- Degree Post Masters online programs offer a best practice, research-based curriculum with a foundation in the liberal arts. Candidates demonstrate proficient to distinguished performance through the following criteria: individual course assessments, field and clinical evaluations, disposition assessments, anchor assessments, and standardized exams. “Educator as Reflective Learner” As our theme “Educator as Reflective Learner” suggests, our candidates are integrally involved in on going reflective practice as master educators in their classrooms, schools and communities. Reflective teachers use the world of practice, knowledge of pedagogy, knowledge of the learner, and knowledge of content personally to evaluate their effectiveness.
This continuous process provides master teachers with a basis for self-evaluation that results in leadership development for school improvement. Advanced teacher candidates will participate in ongoing evaluation through the use of an individualized Professional Growth Plan, Anchor Assessments within identified courses, Disposition Assessments at specified transition points, and a final culminating project within the candidate’s emphasis or endorsement area. Each candidate will work closely with his/her faculty advisor to regularly review progress toward program completion. NCATE Accreditation All Bellarmine University Annsley Frazier Thornton School of Education teacher education programs at the advanced level recognized by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board are fully accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), 2010 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036.
Tuition The tuition cost for Rank I programs will be $400 per credit hour. The chosen endorsement may be completed in five or six semesters attending two evenings per week OR one evening and Saturday sessions.
Funding Assistance Enrollment in the Rank I program identifies the student as non-degree seeking and, as such, the student is ineligible for traditional forms of federally supported student aid. Students are encouraged to work with the Bellarmine University Bursar’s Office in establishing a payment plan. Students enrolled in the Learning and Behavior Disorder’s certification may be eligible for support under the WHAS Crusade for Children Grant (contact the School of Education for more details at 502.272.8076). Private sources of funding may also be available.
